What We Do

The RCP team brings decades of hands-on experience actively managing Ranchlands in the Rocky Mountain West region. By introducing innovative land management practices and systems that are better aligned with the climate than traditionally accepted practices, RCP can drive transformative value, both in terms of ecological health and financial gains.

1/3

Investment
Management

We provide Institutional and Family Office clients access to large, professionally managed Ranchland properties in the United States. We create scalable investment access for our clients through private funds and Co-Investment opportunities.

2/3

Property
Management

Through our subsidiary, Ranchland Management Group, we actively manage all investments using a data-driven operating approach that our Managing Partners have successfully implemented on 3.5+ million acres across 12 Western states.

3/3

Ranch Estate
Structuring

We help families with large, privately owned Ranchland holdings develop effective estate structuring and transition strategies. We coordinate with the family’s CPA, Financial Advisors, and Estate Attorney to manage risk, mitigate taxes, and generate liquidity while considering the legacy goals of the family.

Why We Do It

There is a demonstrable demand for active, integrated management and institutional capital in Ranchland management due to a significant demographic shift among ranch owners in the Rocky Mountain West. Our mission is to ensure that these lands remain in agricultural production and reach their highest potential to meet the growing demand for beef in the U.S.

Demographic Shifts
Demographic Shifts
In the U.S., ranchland ownership is experiencing significant demographic shifts. The average age of ranchers is about 64.5, and many are nearing retirement; however, the transfer of ownership is decreasingly likely to be passed down to younger generations, creating a supply of large properties in agricultural production with no true buyers.
Bridging the Gap
Bridging the Gap
With over 100 years in ranch and investment management and a focus on large ranch deals with strong value-add potential, RCP is bridging the gap between institutional capital and our $120 billion target market. We believe our unique combination of relationships, experience, and data-driven ranch management is the solution to channeling institutional capital into this market and keeping these lands in agricultural production.
Value Add Investor
Value-Add Investor
Only an estimated 15% of the Ranchland Properties to be sold over the next 30 years are currently using intensive management practices to improve and transform their Ranchland. RCP focuses exclusively on value-add investments where there is a significant opportunity to measure and improve a number of pre-determined land health indicators that are directly correlated to financial performance.

Ranchland Focus

  • Ranchlands have historically provided attractive diversification benefits to both traditional and alternative asset classes.
  • Focused exclusively on large-scale Ranchland properties, which can complement Farmland and Timberland holdings.
  • Historically stable investments with holdings largely held in Land, Buildings, Equipment, and Livestock.

Value-Add Approach

  • We seek large, underperforming Ranch properties and actively operate them to improve ecological and financial performance.
  • Enterprise Approach – we seek to establish multiple property income streams including livestock, hay production, hunting, sub-leases, and recreation.
  • Our holistic management approach creates additional profit opportunities in conservation-focused markets.

Quantitatively Driven

  • Our operating approach is driven by a primary goal of enhancing ecological assets such as water, soil, and native plant species.
  • We deploy Rangeland Health Monitoring across all portfolio Ranches, allowing us to collect and analyze data to make more informed management decisions
  • This approach leads to improvements in both ecological and financial performance over time
